Father’s Day is a time for heartfelt thank-you’s, meaningful memories… and maybe just a tiny bit of payback for the bowl cuts, questionable fashion advice, and years of pretending you didn’t know I was sneaking out of the house.

So this year, we’re doing something different.

We're quizzing YOU, Dad.

Because while you might remember the torque specs of every lawn mower you've ever owned, we want to know: How well do you really remember me—your adolescent, hormonal, chaotic, snack-devouring, mood-swinging bundle of joy?

Take this quiz. Laugh with (or at) your dad. And remember that the best part of growing up is having someone who stuck with you through the entire “crimped bangs and panic attacks” phase.

Here we go.

💬 20 Questions to Ask Your Dad About Your Adolescent Life

1. Who was my first kiss?

2. What song did I make everyone in the car listen to on repeat for two solid years?

3. What was my signature mood between the ages of 12 and 14?

A) Friendly ray of sunshine

B) Giggling weirdo

C) Walking eye-roll

D) All of the above depending on the snack situation

4. What completely unnecessary item did I beg for every time we went to Walmart?

5. What trend did you strongly advise against—but I wore anyway?

(You were probably right. But this is your moment to say “I told you so.” Take it.)

6. Who gave "The Talk" and how long did it take before someone fled the room?

Let’s all agree: 0/10 experience. Would not recommend.

7. What did I try to hide from you that you found out about immediately?

8. What food did I claim to be allergic to, just so I wouldn’t have to eat it?

9. How many hours of my life did I spend dramatically stomping up stairs?

Ballpark estimate is fine.

10. What was my dream job at age 10?

(Hint: It was very realistic and I was extremely qualified.)

11. What major teenage “emergency” did I call you about from school?

Examples: left my project at home, forgot gym clothes, broke up with someone I "loved" for six whole days.

12. What sport or activity did you cheer the loudest for—even though I was objectively terrible?

(You deserved a trophy for sideline enthusiasm.)

13. What was my most dramatic phase?

Options include: full goth, “horse girl,” glitter obsession, or “I only speak in song lyrics now.”

14. What was the one phrase I said constantly that made you consider early retirement?

Examples: "I'm fine!" or "You don't understand!" or "Can I have $20?"

15. What irrational fear did I have that you kindly never made fun of?

Unless you did. In which case: explain yourself.

16. Which of my friends were you low-key suspicious of… and totally right about?

You know the one. We all know the one.

17. What movie did we watch together on repeat until the disc literally gave out?

If you quote a line from it right now, you still know it by heart.

18. What was my worst teenage fashion choice, and why did you let me leave the house like that?

(This is a safe space. Mostly.)

19. What chore did I do so badly that you gave up and just did it yourself forever?

Spoiler: This was always the plan.

20. What’s one thing I didn’t say then, but want you to hear now?

Go ahead, Dad. This one’s a freebie. Or maybe I’ll answer it for you:

Thank you. I noticed more than I let on. And I love you more than I ever said out loud.

Father’s Day at Chapman Hill: Here for the Laughs and the Love

At our weddings, we’ve seen dads who cry when they see their child dressed for their wedding—and dads who crack jokes to keep it together. Dads who write speeches. Dads who say everything with a hug. Dads who know exactly what snack their kid needs to survive the reception. This Father’s Day, we’re raising a glass to all the dads who’ve been there for the full journey—from the first scraped knee to the last sappy dance.

Thanks for remembering the little things. (Even if you blocked out the glitter phase for your own mental health.)

You’re doing great, Dad. Quiz or no quiz.

Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Chapman Hill Weddings + Events.

P.S. If you do quiz your dad with these questions, please record it. We live for this kind of content.
